Recognize and fix beginner mistakes
Inspect placement, clearance, reconciliation, and connectivity before trusting a printable joint.
On this page
The tubes collide even though their axes meet#
Logical lines can meet at one point while stock occupies the same space. Inspect the Physical-link endpoints and run reconciliation on the eligible junction. After changing frame geometry, inspect again and rerun it if needed.
Reconciliation adjusts member terminals. It does not create printed connections or solve every assembly constraint.
Two attachments look joined but export separately#
Visual overlap does not establish an Attachment Connection. Check the explicit participant ports and their owning bodies. Add the intended connection when the pieces should manufacture together.
For the reverse mistake, inspect a multi-part attachment's body ownership. Connecting one body's port should not be used as a shortcut for joining all independent bodies in the attachment.
A tube hole closes after connecting#
Check the shared clearance contract. A hole cut only in the original sleeve may not protect it from newly added connector material. Inspect the applicable exported clearance and the final connected component.
A connector fills too much space, or none at all#
Hull fills a convex envelope around selected port regions. Smaller connection regions can give you more control over the bridge. Union does not bridge separated source bodies. Strut adds explicit members, whose paths need checking.
Choose the mode based on the result you need, then inspect the subtraction of shared clearances. More material is not automatically a better joint.
A fitting changes size or faces the wrong way#
A relative Physical-attachment dimension uses the profile's reference length, not a percentage of member length. Inspect the resolved value and switch to an absolute dimension if that matches your intent.
Use Flip direction for axial reversal; use rotation for roll. On non-circular stock, attachment roll follows the parent section. Check the host profile's support before expecting a fitting to adapt.
The offset cannot be edited#
Pinned to end owns the offset while enabled. Turn it off for manual positioning. Inspect the chosen anchor node and parent link when a fitting appears on the wrong end.
The parts fit on screen but cannot be assembled#
Inspect tube insertion, fastener access, receiving pockets, and assembly order. A closed triangulated frame can be difficult to assemble if the last member has no insertion path. The assembly guide covers dry fitting and fastening choices.
The model's geometric result does not certify print quality or load capacity. Use the load-testing guide to evaluate your own manufacturing process.
Diagnose one layer at a time#
Identify the logical intent, the actual stock endpoints, the attachment placement, the explicit connections, and the final required empty space. Change one meaningful value, inspect its consequences, then undo before trying another explanation.
Use transaction history to keep exploration reversible. If you edit after returning to an earlier step, the old continuation remains under Previous alternatives.
